At this meeting you will have a chance to view and provide input on the proposed new streetscape design for Pine Avenue, including information on widened sidewalks, new paving, street furniture, lighting, and landscape.In conjunction with the Pine Avenue Streetscape Improvement Project, the City's Department of Public Works is proposing changes to the Public Walkways Occupancy Permits, which will provide new standards and guidelines for restaurant use of public sidewalks. Your input is sought as part of this process.

Background
The project will look at improvements in the public right-of-way on Pine Avenue from Shoreline Drive to 8th Street, including the following east and west connections:
• 3rd Street (from Pacific Avenue to Long Beach Boulevard)
• Broadway (from Pacific Avenue to Long Beach Boulevard)
• 1st Street (from Pacific Avenue to Elm Avenue)

The RDA is committed to improving connections to Pine Avenue from nearby neighborhoods, destinations, transit stops and parking lots. The design solutions will focus on streetscape improvements including improved sidewalks, pedestrian scale lighting, street trees and related landscaping, decorative hardscapes, public art and a palette of street furniture that provides a desirable identity to the experience of all street users.
